What’s New withYo Papi? With playoffs only a week away, Yo Papi was fighting for their spot in the championship game. A win against Vibo would do the trick. The team began the game with four defenders and one forward in hopes to stop the strong Vibo offense and in getting a break on net for their own goal scoring opportunity. That chance came midway through the first period as Ryan DeBernardo touched the ball in the back of the goal off the Vibo keeper deflection. Later in the first Vibo tied the game leaving the Yo Papi defense stunned. The half came to an end with the scored tied 1-1 Yo Papi started off the second half like they have been all season, slow. Vibo took a commanding 4-1 lead as a result of a poor start of the half. However Mike Zeiser began the comeback with a goal off a freekick. The team's confidence began to rise as the score was later tied 4-4. Vibo continued to pressure the Yo Papi defense and went up 7-4. Once again, however, Yo Papi started another comeback with two goals from Johnny Beamonte. With one minute remaining in the game the score was 7-6 in favor of Vibo. In a last minute effort to score the tying goal, Yo papi moved 4 players at forward leaving one a defense. But the plan backfired and with six seconds left Vibo scored one more to make the final score 8-6. Yo Papi's record fell to 2-2-1 and hope to play for third place in the weeks to come. |
